ABOUT ME
After retiring from semi-professional hockey to pursue a career in academics, I joined the International German Student Exchange Program at the University of Alabama. This program was a joint effort between the university and Mercedes-Benz to prepare students for a rigorous engineering career. In my first two years at the university, I learned to speak German, and in my junior year I studied at Hochschule Esslingen in Germany. My four engineering courses were taught entirely in German. This was a fun challenge, and I managed to obtain the highest possible grades in the entire college (1,0/1,0). After returning to the United States, I became the undergraduate lead for the Propulsion Systems Integration Team on EcoCAR. This is a competition sponsored by GM where we convert ICE cars into hybrid electric vehicles. One of the advisors for EcoCAR at UA, Dr. Hwan-Sik Yoon then introduced me to his modeling and simulations laboratory (MOSAIC), and I began undergraduate research, applying machine learning techniques to physical systems. I am currently completing my master's degree under Dr. Yoon and will graduate in the Spring of 2023.
